Purpose of the Project
In March 2021, Riot Games partnered with Lindsey Stirling to create an official medley video celebrating the launch of League of Legends: Wild Rift in the Americas. The intent was to merge League’s beloved music and champion identities with Stirling’s unique performance style—drawing in both gamers and her global fanbase. By cosplaying as multiple League champions and performing a violin medley of iconic LoL themes, Lindsey delivered a performance that felt nostalgic, cinematic, and perfectly aligned with the game’s mobile debut.
Our Role
PRECISION designed, programmed, and operated the laser effects that defined the video’s look. We built an array of Laser Banding beams projected from multiple simultaneous angles, surrounding Lindsey with volumetric light that created striking geometric depth on camera. The lasers were also color-matched and styled to align with the different costumes, reinforcing each transformation while keeping the overall visual world cohesive. In effect, the lasers became the stage itself—tying together the music, performance, and wardrobe into one immersive presentation.
Lasers as the Visual Language
Laser Banding created the full visual environment for the video. Beams were projected from multiple angles, building volumetric depth and geometric structures that surrounded Lindsey in the dark studio. On camera, these beams formed shifting shapes, planes, and cages of light, producing a futuristic, game-like atmosphere that echoed the world of League of Legends. The design gave the performance an immersive setting that felt expansive, while remaining entirely practical and in-camera.
Lindsey Stirling’s Experience
Lindsey leaned into the cosplay and laser environment with her characteristic energy. She co-directed the video and commented on the challenge and thrill of performing inside a cone of lasers—joking on Instagram about having to avoid “touching” the beams with her face while doing backbends in heels. For her, the lasers weren’t just backdrop; they shaped her movements and heightened the intensity of her violin-and-dance performance, making the video as much about her athleticism as her music.
Riot’s Use and Distribution
Riot Games released the video on Lindsey’s YouTube channel and amplified it across official Wild Rift social channels, framing it as a celebratory piece for the open beta launch. Regional League accounts also shared the video in multiple languages, ensuring global reach. It was effectively positioned as an offbeat launch trailer, leveraging Stirling’s artistry and the emotional pull of LoL’s soundtrack to engage fans beyond the usual gameplay marketing.

Fans and critics responded enthusiastically. League players praised the video for weaving together familiar World Championship anthems and instantly recognized Lindsey’s cosplays. Reddit discussions called it “appropriate for Wild Rift” and a fitting homage to the game’s music. Music bloggers applauded the high production values and the blend of Lindsey’s violin/dance athleticism with League’s lore—one reviewer even said it made them more interested in the game.
The laser visuals were a highlight, earning attention for their originality and precision. Many fans assumed they were CGI until learning they were real, in-camera effects. The project’s laser design even won a First Place ILDA Award in 2021 for Film/TV/Video, cementing its recognition within the laser display industry.
Outcome
The Wild Rift music video successfully met its dual goals: it gave Riot Games a bold, shareable showcase for the game’s launch and gave Lindsey Stirling a platform to expand her artistic reach into gaming culture. PRECISION’s Laser Banding effects were central to that success—turning a simple black studio into an immersive, character-driven performance space that captured the spirit of League of Legends and left a lasting impression on both players and fans.
