Context
Excision is one of the most influential names in North American dubstep. His music is built on crushing basslines, seismic drops, and relentless energy, and his live shows amplify that with production designed to overwhelm. Fans don’t just listen — they headbang, mosh, and throw themselves into the experience, expecting sound, visuals, and lasers delivered at the absolute limit.
The Evolution Tour
The Evolution Tour debuted in early 2020 as Excision’s most ambitious production to date, with a colossal stage system, towering LED walls, and an arena-wide laser rig. After only a few weeks, the tour halted due to COVID-19. In 2021, the tour roared back to life — filling arenas once again and unleashing an updated laser show that pushed the production to new extremes.
Laser Design
When the tour resumed, PRECISION took over the laser design and operation. Lasers were deployed in massive numbers with an intensely aggressive style. Fans and press frequently described the lasers as overwhelming, immersive, and among the most memorable parts of the show. Many attendees noted that the programming felt sharper and more tightly synchronized. Excision leaned into the moment, joking on social media about whether all the lasers would even fit in certain venues.
Reception
Fans singled out the lasers as the highlight: reports talked about a “ton of lasers” firing from all angles and audiences feeling “completely surrounded.” Reviews labeled the production “mind-boggling” and a “visual apocalypse,” with one writer saying they’d “never seen so many laser lights in one arena.” The tone across recaps and threads was consistent — awe at the scale and intensity of the laser show.
