For the 2025 NFL Wildcard Weekend, league producers reimagined the traditional broadcast promo. Instead of a conventional highlight reel, they set the story in an otherworldly fortune‑teller’s room where tarot‑style cards would reveal the teams and players advancing to the playoffs. PRECISION was brought in to infuse this mystical setting with energy and drama by introducing floating Laser Banding effects. The goal was to make every card reveal feel alive and weave the lasers into the narrative to enrich the story.
Laser Storytelling
The creative concept centered on transforming lasers into threads of destiny. Floating bands of Laser Banding became the visual language of the promo: as tarot cards were turned over, beams stretched between them like strands of energy, visually connecting the narrative. Rotating sheets of lasers wrapped the fortune teller in a shifting aura, merging with haze, candlelight and set pieces to create an authentic, atmospheric glow. By capturing everything in camera, the team ensured the lasers interacted naturally with the environment, enhancing the mystical mood of the piece.
Programming & Execution
Every laser cue was precisely timed to match the story’s rhythm. Thin laser bands flared as cards landed on the table; when rival teams appeared side by side, the beams narrowed and tightened across the gap, binding the competitors together in a glowing confrontation. For the “WILD CARD” reveal, layered bands twisted into a crest of energy, anchoring the theme and raising the tension. A ring of rotating lasers around the fortune teller added constant motion, keeping the scene charged from start to finish.
Impact & Outcome
The finished promo stood out from standard broadcast graphics, delivering a bold and distinctive look. The floating Laser Banding effects became a signature visual element: lasers built tension, amplified each reveal, and gave the entire sequence its dramatic language.
